Privacy Policy

I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data I collect through JusticeLawHub, how I use it, and the steps I take to keep it safe. As the person responsible for the site—and as a practising solicitor—I’m committed to handling your information lawfully, fairly, and transparently, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who I am

JusticeLawHub is a resource on English residential property law, written and managed by me, Eleanor Hart. I’m a solicitor with a practice background in property transactions, tenancy agreements, and homeowners’ rights. For the purposes of data protection law, I am the data controller.

Information I collect

You can browse most of the site without providing any personal data. In a few situations, I may collect:

  • Information you give voluntarily. If you leave a comment on a post, I’ll ask for your name and email address. Your name is shown alongside your comment; your email stays private but is stored so I can contact you if necessary. If you email me directly, I’ll have whatever details you include in your message.
  • Technical data collected automatically. Like most websites, JusticeLawHub logs standard internet information—such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the time of your visit. I use this data in aggregate to understand how people use the site and to keep it secure.

How I use your information

I only use your data for purposes you’d reasonably expect from a professional blog about property law:

  • To publish and manage comments you’ve submitted.
  • To reply to enquiries you send me.
  • To analyse site traffic and improve the content I offer—for instance, seeing which guides on buying or renting are most useful.
  • To maintain the technical security of the website and prevent misuse.

I do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and I never sell, rent, or trade personal data with anyone.

Cookies and tracking

JusticeLawHub uses small files called cookies to function properly and to measure how the site is used. Some are essential (for example, remembering your preferences for the cookie notice), while others are optional analytics cookies. I use a privacy-focused analytics tool that minimises the collection of personal data. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies; the site will still work, though some features may be limited.

Third parties I share data with

I keep things simple. I don’t pass your details to advertisers, data brokers, or other businesses. I may share limited information only when strictly necessary:

  • With my website hosting provider and analytics service, who process data on my behalf under strict contractual terms.
  • If required by law or to protect my legal rights—for example, in response to a court order.

All third-party providers I use are carefully chosen for their compliance with UK data protection standards.

How long I keep your data

I keep personal data only for as long as it serves the reason it was collected:

  • Comments and associated metadata are retained indefinitely, unless you ask me to remove them. This helps me recognise follow-up comments and publish them without delay.
  • Analytics data is anonymised where possible and retained in aggregate for reporting purposes.
  • Email correspondence is kept for up to two years after the conversation concludes, then securely deleted.

Where your data is stored

Your information is stored on servers located within the UK and the European Economic Area. I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, alteration, or loss.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have a number of rights relating to your personal data, including:

  • The right to ask what information I hold about you and to request a copy.
  • The right to ask me to correct any incomplete or inaccurate data.
  • The right to ask me to delete your data in certain circumstances (the “right to be forgotten”).
  • The right to object to the processing of your data where I rely on legitimate interests.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

If you’d like to exercise any of these rights, just get in touch using the details below. I won’t charge for handling your request, and I’ll aim to respond within one month.

Children’s privacy

This site is not intended for children under the age of 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If I become aware that a child has provided personal information, I will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

I review this page from time to time. The date at the top indicates when it was last updated. Any changes will take effect as soon as they are published here.
